Meet the SMW Group leadership team

While we have over 300 staff working for SMW Group, we still do business one-on-one with our customers. New clients can expect to meet one of our leadership team, who have been getting things done in the Bowen Basin for 20 years.

Jack Trenaman

Director


Before helping to found SMW Group, Jack gained considerable experience as a senior manager with BMA, MEM and Queensland Cement, working up through the management ranks from the fitter trade. Jack’s reputation for excellent customer focus and background in maintenance management strategies enabled the SMW Group to grow to over 300 employees through a downturn. SMW Group has been acknowledged by their industry peers for this excellence, winning Queensland Mining Contractor of the Year in July 2014.

Jack believes that hard work and strong relationships have caused SMW Group to prosper in a tough industry. The company is acknowledged as a leader in the mining and industry sectors and Jack is committed to leading SMW Group in continued growth through consistent innovation, local employment and community support.

Scott Stevens

Director


Scott has nearly 30 years’ experience in the mining and maintenance field. As an integral part of the leadership team, Scott has helped to build SMW Group to over 300 employees and diversified the company’s core business of servicing, maintenance and welding to include full project design, fabrication and engineering solutions for mining, civil and agricultural sectors throughout the Bowen and Galilee Basins.

Scott has been instrumental in the innovative design and manufacture of several award-winning heavy industrial solutions, including:
– Ultrahaul rear dump truck trays
– Ultralift craneage solution
– Purpose-built processing plants

Scott brings an acute understanding of customers’ needs to the team, and takes pride in delivering quality products on time, with maximum cost effectiveness.

Frank Humphreys

Director


Frank holds a Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Technology from the University of Limerick and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Western Australia. Frank managed materials processing plants in Newcastle NSW and Perth Western Australia before moving to Central Queensland where he gained senior managerial experience at Queensland Cement and BMA, in maintenance and engineering services.

Frank has helped to lead the SMW Group’s engineering and manufacturing team to levels of award-winning excellence, including the implementation of production-line processes to streamline regular overhauls of heavy machinery and earthmoving equipment.

Bradley Neven

Executive General Manager, Business Services


Brad has a law degree from Queensland University of Technology and a Master of Business Administration from Central Queensland University. He has more than 15 years’ experience in executive leadership roles within organisations like Stanwell and Yancoal Australia in the generation and mining sectors. As Executive General Manager – Business Services at SMW, Brad brings excellence in management of leadership and growth, strategic workforce planning, industrial relations, systems implementation, culture and change management, reward and talent acquisition, and delivering HR business solutions.

Additionally, Brad has been a Director of Coal LSL since 2015, and is also a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a certified member of the Australian Human Resources Institute and a member of Queensland Industrial Relations Society.
